The Practice and Therapeutic Approach
I chose the name for my practice with great care and intention, drawing from my Scandinavian heritage and deeply held values. It was important to me that the name reflect something truly meaningful—not just for my work but also for the clients I support. Berkano is the eighteenth rune of the Elder Futhark, the oldest runic alphabet, and symbolizes continuous growth, rebirth, and renewal in all aspects of life—mental, physical, and personal.
Berkano is often associated with the birch tree, a powerful symbol of growth, renewal, and strength. Across cultures, the birch tree represents new beginnings and fresh starts, nurturing and protecting those who seek refuge under its branches. This connection to the natural world and its cycles of change serves as a reminder that, no matter how dark or difficult a period may be, the opportunity for healing and new beginnings is always within reach.
Berkano symbolizes my belief in the transformative power of embracing new starts and nurturing our growth. This name truly represents a commitment to helping clients find their path to healing, renewal, and personal transformation.
The name not only represents my practice as a whole, but also represents me as a therapist. Choosing therapy with me means choosing a path toward healing that’s grounded in compassion, skill, and a deep commitment to your well-being. The work we will do together goes beyond symptom relief; it’s about getting to the root of your pain and helping you grow into the person you want to be.
As a therapist, I believe that my greatest strength is that I’ve done the work I ask my clients to do. This personal experience enables me to offer empathy, guidance, and a deep understanding of the challenges you may face on your journey.
I primarily work with adults 18 years and older, offering a trauma-informed approach that ensures a safe and supportive environment. My purpose is to share space with you on your healing journey, providing support in the way that feels best for you. Whether you’re seeking to process past trauma, navigate life’s challenges, or discover a deeper sense of purpose, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and incorporate both DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) approaches in my work. These evidence-based methods will help us uncover the "Why" behind your mental health struggles. Together, we’ll explore the root causes of your distress, empowering you to make choices that align with who you truly want to be and the life you were meant to live.
Trusting me to walk your healing journey with you, means you'll have a partner who is dedicated to helping you build a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. I’m here to share space with you, offering the support you need to create meaningful change.
